The BabySpot.com Story - James Rivera, Co-Founder and COO

Dear BabySpot Friend,
My life changed on February 3, 2006 - the most important day of my life.This is the day that my wife, Monica, and I welcomed our first child, Danny's Rivera, to the world. A 7 pound 3 ounces, 19-1/2 inch bundle of joy; he became the joy of our heart and our life. Shortly after welcoming him into the world we were bombarded with requests for news, pictures and videos of Danny's. Seeking to quell the mob that demanded to see our new family member we logged onto the Internet and started posting pictures here and there and sending scattered emails that were sometimes filtered out by Spam-screeners. We soon became very frustrated by the need to act as technical support for Danny's various online profiles and photo sites. Plus, we were constantly worried at how safe these sites really were. We turned to our long-time friend, Zameer Upadhya, who, as it turns out, was experiencing equal chagrin at how challenging it had become to try and receive news about his distant baby-cousins. He mentioned to me that he wanted a baby spot on the Internet for all these memories and suggested the name BabySpot.com. This gave birth to BabySpot.com and we created a plan to build an entirely new breed of social networking site that would forever change our lives and we hope the lives of parents the world over.

Since then we have built Babyspot.com as a free and secure site that allows users-specifically parents-to create profiles that give them the ability to post news, pictures, and videos of their children for fellow parents and family members to see. As a parent I make sure that we place privacy and security as our top priority. Site security is tested daily and we only rest if we know that our son, Danny's, information is safe and secure. We also, like to connect with other parents and thought that this site would be a great forum for other parents to connect and share parenting advice, information, and experiences.

Thanks for dropping by. As you can tell, James and I started BabySpot.com more out of necessity than to build a business. When we first chatted about building BabySpot, it seemed to me that my aunts and uncles were having a new baby every month!!! My family is huge and we are very close, but we are scattered all over the world. It got really frustrating when I couldn't see what my new family members were up to. Many of my aunts and uncles refused to post pictures on the Internet because they just didn't see a website that dealt with their concerns about privacy and spoke to their needs. That's where BabySpot.com came to life. Together with James, we have built a website that we feel truly addresses the needs of the new parent and the extended family and friends.
